Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Curriculum

A wide range of academic subjects – from language to life skills – are offered along with co-curriculum subjects, such as music, drama, dance, and more, at the primary level to explore various subject areas and build a strong foundation for the future.

Languages offered are English, Hindi, Marathi, and German.

Cambridge Upper Secondary - IGCSE Curriculum

The IGCSE curriculum framework supports learners in developing their understanding of the natural and practical world. It promotes a learner-led, enquiry-based approach.

Learners have regular assessments to prepare and appear for IGCSE exams.

The assessment structure assesses learner performance and reports progress to students and parents. The report card attributes give an immersive and exhaustive progress report of the learner.

Every child reads 160 books a year in Science, Maths, Geography, History, Literature, Fiction and non-fiction books.
We use thoughtfully researched educational material endorsed by CBSE till grade 6. For grades 7 and above, we will be using NCERT Books.
Each term, students further develop these competencies while they learn to succeed through their education levels and on into the world of work for the 21st century.

Global Perspective & Lifeskills

Building Empathetic Global Citizens

At Colours Innovative Academy, we encourage students to participate in group activities and emerge as leaders. These activities help students explore different perspectives at national and global levels. We organise storytelling workshops to empower students with storytelling abilities. They learn about types of genres in story writing. Structure and language features of story writing. The storytelling workshops strengthen the knowledge of the students about the story.

The subject/s provides an opportunity for learners to research, analyse and evaluate a variety of topics from various fields. Also, learners can explore the strengths and issues relating to the topics. The overall learning process is building the Global Citizens. The facilitator’s task is to provide students with plenty of possibilities and opportunities to uplift world citizens.

Workshop

Stimulating Diverse skills

Colours Innovation Academy offers a wide range of workshops that sharpen learning skills and life skills. It helps in stimulating imagination, innovation and practical learning experience. Learners demonstrate their cognitive learning skills with guided and equipped teachers.

Early engineering and electronics: Early engineering and electronics has a well-defined curriculum, grade 1 onwards, where the learners use Early engineering kits to construct simple to complex machines. As the level progresses, the learners use the electronic kits to make various devices like smart trash-bin, solar power chargers, windmill and various IOT devices using Arduino. A yearly exhibition is held for the young engineers to display and explain their innovative products.
Orator creator Talk show: Learners are prepared by a mentor to speak onstage. They are trained to construct their speech to make it impactful; tone, pauses and voice modulation are mastered under this workshop.
Farming and gardening workshop: Learners experience plotting of land area, sowing seeds, types of soil, suitable soil for various crops, and watering the pots daily.

Sports

Healthy Mind, Empowered Learning

When children are actively involved on the ground daily, they have large lungs and heart size. Their muscles are well developed, and stamina is built. Each child should be physically superb! As it is rightly said, a Strong body builds a strong mind.

List of sports conducted at CIA

Below is the list of sports compulsory for all at the CIA. Dance, Chess, and Taekwondo are given regularly as once a week. Two rounds of running are done daily as a warm-up.

Running - increase stamina and build your physique, a warm-up activity to begin your day with.
Dance - Express your emotions and Exercise with joy
Taekwondo - self defence
Swimming - life skill - full body exercise. ( New Campus only)
Skating - Learn as a skill to enjoy your life.
Chess - Learn to boost your metacognition.
Gymnastics - grades 1 & 2 for all, grades 3 and above for selected students.
Football - grades 1 & 2 for all, grades 3 and above for selected students.
Basketball - Grade 3 and above for selected students.

Co-curriculum

Learning without boundaries

Driven by the culture of constant innovation, we offer early education through a wide range of activities and educational programs in a warm and welcoming environment. Our range of co-curriculum activities includes –

Art - Drawing, Painting, Sketching: Children are encouraged and prepared for elementary and Intermediate drawing competitions. Entrepreneurship products, walls, and school furniture are decorated with Indian and Western art fusion. The concert decoration theme is planned with the help of learners.
Music - Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Tabla, Singing - Indian and Western. Learning keyboards is compulsory for all from grades 1 to 5. A few things should be learnt for happiness. Learning instruments also help in full brain development. After grade 5, children can choose any one instrument or choir singing.
Drama - People should learn how to express themselves as it is a life skill. Along with that, our drama program helps learners.

Architecture Day

Several architects visited our school premises on World Architecture Day. Children experienced various activities such as sculpting, live sketching, painting, memory drawing, crafts, calligraphy, wall art, experimenting with the geodesic dome, celebrating traditional dance, and celebrating art through music and paintings.
Parents connected with the school and took sessions on Presentation skills, Working of car/ scooter, and computer hardware.

Colours Care - NGO Initiatives

Life is valuable, and that can be experienced when we serve others to make their life a little better and more beautiful. Children are given certificates beforehand, and they must complete the task and take signatures from the person they served. Teaching, planting, cleaning, creating community libraries, Collecting valuable items and donating, serving grandparents/family( charity begins at home), cooking and serving the needy, distributing water or buttermilk, and electronics club for an orphanage were the tasks given to children.

Essay writing competition

connected with TCS: Learners participate in the essay competition. The organisation provides a topic, learners do their research and come prepared for the competition.

Annual Concert

Every alternative year CIA celebrates the Annual Concert. The event is theme-based. All the dramas, dances, and music performances revolve around the theme.

Art appreciation

Learners are allotted various art, i.e. paintings, sculptures, and murals. They research well the art allocated, for example- the artist, the background, the detailing of the art, and the strokes/structures/moulds. Learners present their perception of the art, maintaining its positive aspect. 100% participation is mandatory. Children use various methods to present, like- charts, models or PPTs.

Wax museum

Learners are allotted one influential personality each. Learners read about the personality in-depth and imagine the person- the way of talking, dressing, humour, gestures, etc. On the event day, the learners stand at their station and perform as the audience attend their stations.

Sports Week

Every alternative year, the CIA celebrates the Annual sports event. The event is theme-based. Several indoor/outdoor games are held during the sports week. Games are both individual as well as team sports. The semi-finals and finals are conducted for certain sports during this time, along with various demonstrations of gymnastics, parades, and martial arts.

Debate

Annually, the CIA holds two debate competitions. It is conducted as an inter-house competition. Teams and groups are defined within the houses by the facilitators. Environmental, political.

Biography writing

Lower secondary and Upper secondary learners are inspired to do in-depth research about a prominent personality. Proper biography writing features are followed during the process.

Career Week

All festivals are celebrated at the school, such as World Photography Day, Hindi Diwas, Holi celebration and Independence Day, Palki celebration with sarpanch, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami etc.

What happens after the 10th?

At Colours School, the educational program includes IGCSE for 10th-grade learners. According to the Cambridge Board curriculum, we will offer 11th and 12th grades, known as AS and A levels. At Colours School, we are introducing the CBSE Board starting in the year 2024, and our plan includes introducing 10th, 11th, and 12th as well.
